Light
There are times when you feel as if you are in pieces and you don’t know where the crack started. The wholeness that those pieces must have made up and which you believed in so firmly only lingers vaguely like a familiar smell you can’t quite identify.
In the Jewish Kabbalah, sparks of the divine are scattered rather than in a single place. As light reflects off broken pieces and not only off something whole and untouched, the sparks do not lose their holiness just because they are scattered. The pieces of you that do not seem to fit into you neatly anymore, the ones that seem wrong and make you want to feel whole again, are still pieces of the divine being played out. You are invited to be a piece of the divine, one at a time. Maye we are meant to be lived in pieces. At the end, the narrative of your life that has lived out the pieces would be the wholeness for which you have been searching.
